Milestones- First steps!

Kavi has been pulling himself up to a standing position for a while now. He's recently in the past few weeks started standing up on his without grabbing onto something. And today (he'll turn 9 months in 5 days), December 7, 2009, he took two steps. He initially used his dad's legs for balance, let go to do 2 steps alone, then reached the couch!

Wow

Wow. That was fast! I posted the request for pictures from Houston and both Divya and Beena Auntie came to the rescue the next day. It's taken me this long to post because I've been busy. Without further ado, here are pictures from the rest of our trip to Houston, in complete random order because I don't know how to work this thing:
Div, Anup, Kavi, and Gayatri had a chance to visit Easwaran Uncle and Beena Auntie for the afternoon. Here is Uncle with the drool monster. Uncle and Auntie, his drooling did produce two top front teeth!

Janet, Alex's sister-in-law is holding her daughter Julia and Kavi
Here is Kavi with Miss Julia. She was so sweet to him, brushing his hair, putting blankets on him.
Ooh, we're back in Galveston. There's Beena Auntie! Sorry, I tried to organize but only succeeded in deleting pictures!
Snuggle time with Alex Appapan
We had a nice afternoon with Beena Auntie. Thanks for lunch!
The Three Musketeers
Beena Auntie hugging on Kavi
Zerberts!
Div and Alex got us tickets to a basketball game. It was a lot of fun.
Kavi's had a great time with his Kochamma
Appappan likes having his head scratched.
And he likes kisses.
Right?
Kavi loves to eat the remote
We can't end this post without mentioning the star of the weekend, the diaper snatcher herself, Miss Bailey! Too cute!
Thanks again to the Varkeys and Variyams for sending in these pictures and for making our weekend so full of love and family. Sorry for the random order of posting!

Bubbles!!

Bubbles signal the end of class, so far, he is still fascinated by them. Note how he doesn't even look at the girls! Without bubbles, it's a different story, he's been caught sharing his socks with his friend Evelyn.

Thanksgiving in DC

Okay, so this is the day-after-Thanksgiving, where we went to a nice Italian restaurant in the Mclean area. The paparazzi or PaparAcha, as we like to call it, took plenty of Thanksgiving pictures that are up at his site on Picasa. Disclaimer: That is NOT spit on Kavi's shirt, his Ammoomma spilled pureed fruit down the front of it (Okay, maybe some of it is spit!).
Anup and Vijay shooting the breeze
Kalpana Chechi and Acha relaxing
Achamma and her baby boy...
... and her baby girl
Three beautiful ladies
Kavi is confused...is that Appooppa or his brother?
Passing the Kavi around
Kissy time

Dinner's over. Time to go home!

Houston...the OTHER Htown

We had such a lovely time in Houston. We were fortunate enough to see so many wonderful friends: The Varkey, the Velus, The Variams, and the Doshis (not all V's). Unfortunately, our camera only had enough batteries to take 3 pictures, so here they are:
Priya and Vinod's daughter Anjali is ready to cut her first birthday cake!
Big brother Sachin is standing by the give immediate assistance

The Birthday girl upclose!

This call goes out to Div and Beena Auntie (or anyone else who took pictures) to send some pics this way, so we can post them. Thanks for an amazing weekend!

Mo throws a party

We had a lovely 5 course meal at Monisha. We were really impressed, she cooked very well!

Too Close!

Dad's typical pose. Alok is bored with it...but not Kavi!

First Day of Class

Kavi had his first day of Fine Arts classes a few weeks ago... Fine Arts meaning putting as much paint in one's mouth as possible while having mommy wear it.
Mischievious Michaelangelo?
Playful Picasso?
Does it taste good?
What do you think? More of a Monet?
